The Trauma of Rejection
Starting this blog, I will be focusing on rejection. Rejection happens to all of us. It feels so shameful to us, and we hide it. We keep it hidden so no one will know we are not okay. We, however, know we are not. Rejection shakes us to the deepest part of our souls. We know nothing about us will enable us to be accepted.
Rejection and our special, unique, divine purpose are powerfully tied together. The darkness of this world, using rejection, works to stop us from accomplishing our purpose. We will gain more strength and wisdom when we choose to push through and heal. Let’s look at healing from a different perspective.
I love the process Michelangelo, a great artist, used to create his sculptures. He first visualized what the statue would be as he looked at a massive piece of marble before him. He then removed everything that was not the vision. That is healing. As we heal, we eliminate all that is not us and free ourselves from pain, lies, misdirection, trauma, shame, etc. Then we, the real us, emerge as victors, stronger and more courageous.
Healing works that way. With God’s help, we remove everything that is not us, enhancing all that is. That is healing. Healing removes and transforms the damage done by the trauma while freeing and developing the amazing us.

- Does the way Michelangelo created stature fit your process? Why or why not?
